FAQ - Ancient Greek Vases & Pottery

1. Are the items you advertise on your site genuine antique pieces ?

No. All the items on our web site are reproductions of the original antique masterpieces. The original pieces can be found in museums, archaelogical sites, galleries, monasteries, churches and private collections not only in Greece but all over the world. All the items bear the lead seal of authenticity which guarantees that they are exact replicas of antique artworks and that they are handmade in Greece by expert artisans.

2. What are the pottery items made of ?

The vases and the other pottery items are handmade either of clay or ceramin. All the items are painted by hand and signed by the artisan who created them.

3. Are the pottery items functional ? That means, can I store food in them ?

All the pottery items can become fully functional and compatible with food once they are glazed in the inside. Unfortunately we do not glaze pottery items on request any more. You can have the item glazed yourself at a local ceramic workshop. Once glazed, you can use the lagini for oil, the hydria for water, the kylix and the kantharos for wine etc, as long of course as they are thoroughly cleaned before the first use. They are not suitable however for dish washer.

4. What is the shipping cost for a pottery item ?

This varies depending on the individual item's dimensions and weight.
These are the minimum shipping charges for one (1) item up to 2 kg  (4.4 lbs) weight :
Standard mail shipping (ca. 2 weeks delivery) : $15 anywhere in the world.
UPS Express (2-3 days delivery) : $60 anywhere in the world.
A combination of 2+ items decreases the shipping cost/item.. For more information on multiple orders please contact us. We are always trying to minimize the shipping cost for your benefit.

5. I am looking for something specific that I didn't find on your site. What can I do ?

It's simple : You should contact us and ask us ! There is a wide variety of pottery items in all shapes and sizes that are not included in our web site. We welcome queries and reply to them within 24 hours at the latest !

8. What if I don't like what I ordered ? Is there a money back guarantee ?

Hellenic-Art.com provides an unlimited money-back-guarantee. Any claims must be made however within 30 days after the merchandise has been received.
