Epi Soi Hairei Joy Be On Thee

A unique Byzantine icon, handmade & handcarved by hagiographers on Mt. Athos, the Land of Orthodoxy. There, the monks who have dedicated their lives and their souls to God are creating monumental works of art, preserving the antique Byzantine art of hagiography.

This is an exact reproduction of the antique Byzantine icon of Epi Soi Hairei (Joy Be On Thee), preserved in one of the Monasteries of Mt. Athos in Northern Greece.

The name of the icon comes from the hymn of the same name, “Epi soi hairei Keharitomeni” (“Joy be on thee cherished one”). It shows Virgin Mary enthroned in the middle and various scenes from the lives of Virgin Mary and Jesus, like the Annunciation, Nativity, etc.

The icon is handmade to order, it bears the Seal of Authenticity on the back and is signed and numbered by the artist.
