Deisis – Jesus Christ with Virgin Mary & St. John

A beautiful Greek Orthodox icon of Deisis, handmade & hand painted by an expert Greek hagiographer.

Deisis is a Greek word meaning intercession/prayer. It represents three persons: Christ, seated majestically in the center, his Mother to the right and John the Forerunner to the left. His Mother and St. John are slightly bowed, raising their hands in prayer, humbly interceeding with Christ.

Made using traditional materials (selected aged timber frames, egg tempera, 24K gold leaf, natural powder paint and varnishes) and old techniques. It is an exact reproduction of an antique Byzantine masterpiece.

The icon bears the artist’s signature on the front and the certificate of authenticity on the back.
