Ancient Greek Spartan life size helmet. Helmets with transverse crests were worn by the captains of the famous Spartan phalanx. Dated 450 B.C.

Sparta or Lacedaemon was a prominent city-state in ancient Greece in south-eastern Peloponnese. Around 650 BC, it rose to become the
