Ancient Greek life size helmet from Syracuse in Sicily, dated 400 B.C.
Syracuse was founded by Ancient Greek Corinthians and became a very powerful city-state. It was allied with Sparta and Corinth, exerting influence over the entire Magna Graecia area of which it was the most important city. Once described by Cicero as “the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of them all”, it later became part of the Roman Republic and Byzantine Empire.
The helmet is a rare design bearing a crest with twin snakes.
The helmet is offered with an optional marble stand to create a perfect display piece.
Handmade in Greece of solid bronze, an exact museum reproduction.
